Hi, I'm Sam
About Me
Some designers love a clean slate, but I’ve made a career out of working with the messy stuff, such as successfully redesigning a fragmented decade-old maps product, features powered by AI before they were trendy, and designing healthcare platforms that reduced unnecessary clinic visits.
More About Me
What I'm Like
Bridging Design & Dev
I call myself a "translator between worlds", bridging the gap between engineering, business, and user needs. Rather than just handoff static mockups, I talk to developers before the sprint starts to negotiate feasibility, and I write detailed specs for edge cases and null values so developers don't have to guess.
High-Fidelity Logic
To me, design is about removing risk, not just adding aesthetics. My mantra is "Rework is 10x more expensive than a single test," so I prototype early and often to stop us from building the wrong thing.
Design Philosophy
I typically create two distinct versions of a feature. A safe, feasible "Grounded" version and a highly ambitious "Concept Car" to spark debate with the team and help us find the best middle ground.
Hobbies
Off the clock, you can usually find me playing story-driven games (currently playing Witcher 3), trying out a new recipe, or completely geeking out over Formula1 race strategies and data.
Personal Philosophy
I only have two strict rules in life, a real brownie is dense and fudgy, and anyone who eats a slice of pizza but throws away the end crusts is deeply untrustworthy. 🙃
